There’s a particular feeling when you return to a customer after seven years.

Not as a stranger with a brochure. Not as a supplier chasing renewal. But as a partner they’ve chosen to trust—again.

This March, our NexGen team headed back to Rolls Royce’s Derby campus. Back in 2017, we installed their first portable staging system in the Learning and Development Centre. It served them through countless events, training sessions, and corporate gatherings.

This time, we were there to upgrade them to our latest NexGen portable staging system.

The Numbers That Matter

Slowly open Risers and place into desired layout

We could talk about engineering specifications and material grades. But here’s what Rolls Royce actually cared about:

Installation time2 hours 30 minutes (old system out, new system ready)
Stage area30sqm with full accessories
Old equipmentRecycled as backup stock – zero waste
DowntimeSame-day completion

For a busy Learning and Development Centre, speed matters. Their team didn’t have days to spare for installation. They needed it done—properly, professionally, without disruption.

Why They Upgraded

The 2017 system wasn’t broken. But event expectations had changed. Rolls Royce wanted something:

  • Lighter – easier for their internal team to manage
  • Faster – reduced setup and breakdown times
  • Modern – aligned with their current brand presentation
  • Flexible – adaptable to different event configurations

The NexGen system delivered on all four.

Nothing Went to Waste

Here’s something we don’t talk about enough: what happens to old equipment?

Too often, it ends up in storage collecting dust—or worse, in landfill. We took a different approach. The 2017 system was recycled and returned to Rolls Royce as backup stock.

This means they now have:

  • Extra capacity for larger future events
  • Emergency backup without additional cost
  • A sustainable solution that aligns with their environmental commitments

Partnership isn’t just about the sale. It’s about thinking beyond the installation.

The Best Compliment We Could Receive

Midway through installation, we had a visitor: Derby Cathedral.

They were actively researching portable staging for their own events—community gatherings, concerts, ceremonies. They watched our team work. They saw the finished system. They spoke with the Rolls Royce team about their experience.

By the end of the week, they’d placed their order.

We didn’t pitch them. We didn’t send a follow-up email. The work spoke for itself.

What This Means for You

If you’re reading this, you’re probably considering one of three things:

  1. Your first portable staging system – and you want to get it right from the start
  2. An upgrade from existing equipment – like Rolls Royce, you’ve outgrown what you have
  3. A backup solution – you need additional capacity for larger events

Whatever your situation, here’s what seven years with Rolls Royce has taught us:

Good equipment matters. Good partnerships matter more.

We’re still here supporting the 2017 installations that are still running. We’ll be here for the NexGen systems we’re installing today. That’s the commitment.
